A busy and fun filled week

Claire came to stay with us for a few days this week. :-)

We visited quite a few places and here are some photographs taken with the Fuji F11 point and shoot camera that I carry with me all the time.

Mothers Day lunch at John and Ida’s in Pontypridd with my mum was excellent.

Claire left after lunch for the drive back to Marham, unfortunately it was a very long journey due to traffic jams and accidents but she did see Jeremy Clarkson in his Ferrari on the way!

A damp Friday

We’ve just returned from RAF Marham where we were once again invited to present the basketball trophy at the annual tournament in memory of our eldest son James. Congratulations to Jonesy’s Boys from the ECM Bay who won the competition for the second year running. We had a terrific time, it was great to see everyone again. We were also fortunate in being invited to visit the section yesterday morning for coffee before heading back. Special thanks to Keith, Claire, Lee, Andy, Gill, Mal, The Chief – Nigel, The Warrant Officer – Steve and everyone else for all the organisation and making our visit once again so special.

We also couldn’t be in Norfolk without visiting all the family and catching up on everything that’s been happening, we had a terrific time. We both need to go on a diet to return to the weight we were before the trip. :-)

A damp Saturday

The snow has turned to rain. :-)

Someone recently emailed us some examples of pavement art, they’re really quite stunning.

A fairly quiet day apart from more shopping at Tesco extra, nice to drive the BMW again now the snow has melted. :-)

A damp Monday

Monday is generally the day when I perform the various computer housekeeping tasks on the systems we run here. The routine consists of mainly running various utilities to remove annoying tracking cookies, checking that nothing malicious has managed to get through the various firewalls and archiving old data to DVD or external storage.

I also spent a little bit of time looking at some actions and templates for Photoshop for creating composite album pages, I usually use custom album design software but thought it would be interesting just to try the more manual method of doing it natively within Photoshop.

Here is a little test design I generated. Not sure if I’d use this particular design in a real album but it was fun creating the layout.

A wet and thundery Saturday

I spent some time today getting my Palm Tungsten C to synchronise correctly with my notebook computer.

I’ve also been working on album designs recently and I thought I’d post some examples of common image variations.

A wet Monday

It’s been a very busy few days. Sam and Sophie called around a few days ago to collect the DVD slideshow of their recent wedding and sat with my notebook computer and selected the images for their wedding album. I emailed them an initial design for their album the next day and they emailed back a few minor changes that evening, the final design was then approved and the files sent to the lab for printing. I’ve also been busy making up albums and processing orders from our web galleries.

The work on the fences has been completed, the only outstanding work is a new roof for the car port and the roof and window blinds for the conservatory which are hopefully being fitted at the end of the week. Here are a couple of snaps that show part of the conservatory interior.

This is where I spend most of my working day! Colour laser printer on the left, then the notebook computer which is used for most tasks including email, image processing etc., unfortunately the colours on the notebook aren’t terribly accurate so images are viewed on the Eizo monitor to the right. When not processing images the Eizo is used to view the Linux file server (which is located upstairs). The album display shelves are on the right.

A busy Monday

I had an email from Rachel this morning, she’s decided to book me for her wedding. :-)

I enjoy restoring old and damaged photographs and here’s one I’m working on at the moment, it isn’t quite completed at the moment as I still need to do a little more restoration work.

A dry Monday

Well it’s been a very busy few weeks since I last posted. We’ve had various members of the family staying with us, a lot of do it yourself work and a very busy wedding workload.

Here are a few images from recent weddings.

The conservatory walls were plastered today, just the floor, final fitting and decorating to go. Here’s a photo of Stuart plastering the walls.
