Back to ‘real’ work Monday

David called in this morning.

I spent most of the rest of the day applying 3M positionable pressure mount adhesive to album prints in preparation for mounting the images into albums. It’s a very time consuming piece of work that involves aligning the print with the roll of pressure mount, applying light pressure to the print to position it, carefully trimming the pressure mount around the print with a scalpel and straight edge and then using a squeege on the back of the pressure mount, with the print face down on a sheet of release paper to bond the pressure mount adhesive to the back of the print. Today I’ve prepared twenty prints for one album. The next stage is to mount the prints in the album, this involves peeling back the pressure mount backing from the print, carefully aligning the print with the album page, gently press the print to hold it into position. The final stage is to cover the print with release paper and squeege over the front of the print to achieve the final bond. As you can imagine mounting the images in a Jorgensen E album takes rather a lot of time. I have quite a few E albums to make up so it’s going to be a very busy week or so.

I also completed two Image Book Albums today, they are so much easier to put together.
