A cold Thursday
Breakfast this morning at the bakery in Church Village. I spent most of the day creating some new widescreen sample DVD slideshows.
A cold Wednesday with a little snow
A fairly quiet day spent archiving completed work off the computer to DVD. We create a DVD back up of all images as soon as they’re downloaded from the cameras together with a back up of the corrected jpeg files created after we process the raw images. Once we’ve completed the wedding albums we create a further back up of the album design on DVD. While the images are ‘work in progress’ they also form part of our regular hard disk imaging back ups.
A bright Tuesday
Into Cardiff today, food shopping at Tesco Extra in Gabalfa on the way home.
A cold Monday
We went to Leekes today, looked around the fitted kitchens and furniture departments but didn’t see anything we liked enough to buy.
Quite a few wedding enquiries today and another wedding booking, looks like the next couple of years are likely to continue being very busy.
A quiet and relaxing Sunday
A very quiet day today, we had lunch at home.

A sunny Saturday
I received the Pontypridd Boys Grammar School Old Boys’ Association newsletter in the post this morning from John Kelland which reminded me that I took some photographs last July when the school was open to visitors before it closed. It was quite strange being back there after so many years. There used to be a strong smell of polish throughout the school when I was a pupil there but unfortunately the buildings are now in a rather sad state with a strong smell of damp and dust. Here’s a small selection from the photographs of that visit.

This house was used for sixth form teaching, in the summer croquet was played on the lawn using a rather fine croquet set from Jaques.
A fairly quiet day today, we were invited to Linda’s for an evening meal.
A bright Friday
Es i bore coffi Cymraeg yn y Bwtsiars, Llantrisant, Cymru Cymraeg a dysgwyr ar y cyd. I went to the Welsh coffee morning at the Butchers in Llantrisant this morning, Welsh speakers and learners together. It was very enjoyable and friendly I’m hoping that the opportunity to hear and speak more Welsh will help me to improve as I seem to be struggling to make conversation at the moment.
I called in to see my mum this afternoon.
A mainly dry Thursday
A trip into Cardiff for a dental check up, I need one filling replaced so I made a follow up appointment. After the dentist I drove down to PC World on Newport Road and purchased a complete set of ink cartridges for my Canon i9100 printer. It’s a strange fact that with many A4 printers it’s around the same price to buy a new printer as it is to buy a set of new cartridges. The Canon doesn’t have that problem, it’s an A3+ printer and a set of ink cartridges are around a quarter of the price of the printer! This strange pricing is also true of A4 mono and colour laser printers where often a complete set of toner cartridges is around the cost of the printer. I suppose the moral is that after a while you’re better off considering a new printer rather than re-stocking the ink / toner on an existing model. One real bargain at PC World was the Targus Defcon 3 remote controlled laptop / bag alarm for around Ă‚ÂŁ4, I find them really useful for protecting my camera gear when I’m working on assignments in public areas.
I spent some time this afternoon preparing a set of high resolution print files for a customer, we offer the add on option of high resolution files on DVD to our wedding couples and quite a number have purchased the print ready files to make their own prints for themselves and their families.
A mixed Wednesday
We went for a wander around Leekes (“the out of town department store”) in Pontyclun and had lunch there.
Welsh class this evening, we started looking at the assessment options for the current course work, it’s half term next week so no class.
