Lunch at the Hollybush in Church Village (once again!), roast beef followed by apple pie and custard.
Stuart and Karen called in this afternoon to collect their Jorgensen E series wedding album and parent albums, they were really pleased with the albums.
The morning and early afternoon were spent making a few changes to some of the code on my web site, just a general tidying up of some of the PHP routines.
Called iover to see my mum this afternoon (she was out when I called this morning, she’s always adamant that she never goes out but I always seem to call when she is!).
Delivered Andrew and Lisa’s wedding and parent albums, they’re delighted with the Jorgensen E series albums and the quality and saturation of the images. Delivering finished albums and seeing the couples’ reaction is one of the best parts of my work as a wedding photographer. 🙂
Called in to Tesco Extra at Talbot Green on the way back from Andrew and Lisa’s and did a little bit of shopping.
Sent my Motorola V600 mobile phone off for repair today, I hope to get it back after a week, it’s really strange to be back using my Samsung T100 with its more limited features.
I finally tracked down and fixed an annoying problem I’ve been having with my Sony Vaio notebook. The pagefile would continue growing until it was full and then no other applications could run. The problem was being caused by a piece of wireless networking software that was writing to the pagefile but not releasing the memory it had written.
David called in to use my computer, he still hasn’t finished re-installing software on his.
Received a parcel from Claire today with photos and other interesting things. 🙂
Welsh class this evening, it’s really difficult getting back into it after the long break.
I thought I’d post a few pictures from my Fuji F11 point and shoot camera showing how I prepare photographs for mounting in a Jorgensen E series album (the glare on the gloss images is from my worklight).
The first stage is to unroll some of the 3M pressure mount film and gently press down the photograph to hold it in place. This photograph shows two 10×8 prints (for parent albums) having the mounting film applied.
The roll of mounting film is then trimmed from the top of the print, next using the straight edge as a guide the mounting film is trimmed flush with all the edges of the print using a sharp scalpel. The mounting film will stick aggresively to anything that comes in contact with it!
The individual prints are then placed face down on the release paper and squeeged on the back using the blue squeege blade shown in the photograph to make the pressure bond to the back of the photograph.
The final stage is to remove the backing, align the print on the album page and then applying the release paper to the face of the print squeege over the top of the print to make the bond to the album page permanent.
I finished making up all the Jorgensen E series albums 🙂 they all look absolutely stunning. It’s a great feeling to complete such a large piece of work. My Motorola V600 mobile phone is broken so I’ve arranged for it to be sent for repair, luckily it’s still under warranty, it will apparently take a week before it’s returned so I’ll be back using my Samsung without bluetooth or GPRS. 🙁

I spent most of the day applying 3M repositionable pressure mounting film to the remaining photographs that now have to be mounted in Jorgensen E series albums.
Isn’t Google Earth a brilliant piece of software? It’s amazing how much you can see that you didn’t know existed, even in your local area! I only recently downloaded a copy and haven’t had very much time to use it but I’ve found it absolutely fascinating.
Adobe have just released the latest updates to their DNG converter and Adobe Camera Raw, the most interesting feature is that Camera Raw now supports the new Nikon D200 camera.
More work preparing photographs for mounting in albums, it’s a long slow process carefully applying the 3M repositionable pressure mount adhesive film and trimming with a scalpel with the photographs for one more album still to be prepared.
I spent the evening preparing more photographs for albums, found out that the new scalpel is very good at cutting into my thumb. 🙁
David called in this morning and hogged the computer and phone!
A trip to the bank and then on to the local RS trade counter to purchase a new metal straight edge and some new scalpels and blades, I have so many prints to mount that these will certainly speed up the process. Another album delivery today, so it’s all systems go with making up albums. I spent several more hours preparing photographs for mounting into the albums.
My monthly copy of Radio Communication arrived today, very sad to read that an old friend of mine Bob Barett GW8HEZ had died recently while on holiday in Sweden. Bob had lived in South Wales for a number of years and had worked originally as a BBC cameraman before being one of the original group of people who started MRS Communications in Cardiff, a company that I worked for many years ago. Bob later moved to Cornwall.
