Monthly Archives: December 2005

A dark Wednesday

Received the contract with cheque for the reservation fee from Jennie and Jason for their wedding next year at Cardiff City Hall.

Received two print orders from the lab this morning.

A trip to the bank and food shopping at the local Somerfield.

Entering up my accounts this afternoon, trying to get everything up to date for the month end without having to do it over Christmas.

A quiet Tuesday

I visited the local Tesco with the intention of filling the car up with petrol but the gigantic queue made me decide against it 🙁

I went into Caerphilly, the car park at Castle Court was very busy but luckily I found a space on the first attempt. I did a little more shopping, it was much busier than yesterday.

I filled the car up with petrol at Morristons, no queue 🙂

Had a late lunch at my least favourite place – no prizes for guessing. The image below is taken with my Fuji F11 point and shoot compact, so easy to use compared to my professional cameras.

MacDonalds Nantgarw

Called in to see my mum, she hasn’t been very well since the weekend and she still looks quite under the weather, so far she’s refusing to have Christmas lunch with anyone and wants to spend Christmas on her own for the first time ever – parents!!

VAT Return to complete this evening – one of the joys of being self employed!

A dreary Sunday

We all visited Cefn-Y-Parc cemetery this morning with Steve and Biggie who were over from Hong Kong. It was the first time that Rachel, Chris, Steve and Biggie had all seen Jame’s headstone. It was quite emotional.

Lunch with Rachel and Tiegan at the Hollybush, Chris missed out as he travelled back to Norwich with Steve and Biggie, another excellent lunch, unfortunately it’s changing hands in the new year 🙁

A cold Saturday

A fairly quiet day, still needed to install some extra software on my desktop!

Rachel, Tiegan and Chris are staying with us this evening, they arrived from Norwich around 7 o’clock this evening.

Take away from the local Indian this evening.

Another trip into Cardiff

Called in at Piccadilly Albums to collect an order of Image Book albums, Mandy is running the show single handedly today and it was very busy!

For a number of years I’ve been invited to a Christmas ‘nibbles, drinks and networking’ session at the Cardiff office of Right Coutts management consultants. Nice to see some familiar and new faces again this year.

I had a wander around the shopping centre, quite busy but the traffic in and out of the city was really heavy. The 40 mph speed restriction on the north bound section of the A470 between Cardiff and Nantgarw has been lifted, it looks like they’ve nearly finished the road works.

Had a telephone call from Jennie, who I met with at the end of last month, to say that she’s booking me for her wedding next year in Cardiff City Hall and she’s posting the cheque and the contract.

A quiet Wednesday

Another fairly quiet day. A little more work installing software on the pc, I keep finding programs that I’ve been using on the notebook that haven’t been configured for the desktop.

No Welsh class this evening, quite strange being at home on a Wednesday evening.

A cold Tuesday

Prepared a large set of print files to send to the lab for printing, probably the last batch before Christmas.

Trip to the village to post letters and the order to the lab.

Shopping at Tesco, Talbot Green this evening.

Watched the concluding episode of Secret Smile on television, Jill Baker who is the sister of Richard Baker, my boss when I worked at the Principality Building Society, was in the cast.

A bright cold Monday

An outpatient appointment first thing this morning, adjustments to my digital hearing aid.

Into Pontypridd this affternoon for mainly window shopping and then called in to see my cousin Glen at his garage in Graigwen.

A quiet and relaxing work free day.

A bright Sunday

Took the girls to the Hollybush for Sunday lunch, everyone had roast beef but with a mix of desserts, Claire had just custard, Gill had cheescake and I had the apple pie and custard.

Hollybush

We then strolled around the corner to visit my mum, here’s a photo of Claire, Mum and Gill.

Claire, Mum and Jill

Claire and Gill left at around 4:30 for the long drive back to RAF Marham.
