A trip to The Bay

A late lunch at Harry Ramsdens and then a leisurely stroll around, visiting the Millennium Centre, passing the new Assembly building which is still under construction and taking in the changes since we were there last.

A snap of Gill with statues, Gill is a F1 fan, in case you can’t tell from the jacket!

A few more snaps of Cardiff Bay at dusk.

A relaxing evening watching old British comedy on the television.

A trip to the Museum of Welsh Life

We went to the Museum of Welsh Life at Saint Fagans on the outskirts of Cardiff. It’s a fascinating place with buildings from around Wales having been dismantled and transported there and re-built and restored. It was very quiet there apart from a few visitors and a small number of school groups. It requires a full day to see everything, it’s also a good opportunity for me to practice a little Welsh as all the staff speak the language fluently.

David called in, ran out of petrol and once again ‘borrowed’ the contents of my petrol can!

Claire made a carrot cake, here’s a photo of Gill and Claire ‘secretly scoffing’ the excess topping.

Gill and Claire #2

Apparently bacon tastes great with the carrot cake topping 🙁 as a result Claire has to cook more bacon, photographic evidence that she can cook!

Still updating the pc

I now have most of the software fully working on my main pc. It’s surprising how much the configuration of two computers can change over time when one is used as the main machine and the other used mainly as a back up. While all the Windows updates and essential imaging software have been kept in sync a number of applications have only been used on the one computer.

Welsh class this evening, the last one until after Christmas.

A struggling with computers Tuesday

I’ve been becoming increasingly frustrated with my ageing Sony Vaio laptop so today decided to start using the main pc at my desk downstairs. The idea is sound but the practicalities of copying my emails and settings from the notebook were tedious, why do two almost identical installations decide to store default files in totally different locations? It was a few hours work to make sure that everything was synchronised between the two machines.

Weekly shop Monday

We shopped at Tesco in Talbot Green today, we also had the turkey lunch, the stuffing balls were very nice but everything else was rather poor. Leekes in Pontyclun however generally provide an excellent ‘home cooked’ lunch – we should have visited them first!

Fitted a new battery to my mum’s car, she hasn’t changed it for a few years and it was beginning to struggle in the cold mornings we’ve been having recently.

Thursday – so soon!

Completed the design of Andrew and Lisa’s wedding album, uploaded it to my web site and it has been approved. The parent albums are going to be smaller copies of the wedding album so I’ve re-sized the images and created all the files to go to the lab for printing. Ordered the three E series albums on-line and received the order confirmation emails.

Upgraded my local server to the latest version of Apache – worked first time.
