Visited the doctor last week and was put on antibiotics over the weekend but things were much worse by Monday so I was admitted again to Ward 7 at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and in theatre that evening. The staff on Ward 7 are really lovely. I was discharged on Tuesday afternoon and the district nurses are visiting each morning to dress the wound. The sister visited this morning and she isn’t happy with the wound so she may refer me back to the hospital depending on how things progress over the next few days. π

Our Welsh Class went out for a Christmas meal at the Miskin Arms this evening, it was excellent. Here are a few snapshots.
Colli’r cawr o Fynydd y Garreg
A very moving tribute and celebration of the life of Ray Gravell from Stradey Park today, he was a truly great man.
A cold Wednesday
I met with Leanne and Michael last week to discuss photography for their wedding next year, they told me they were booking me at the meeting and I received their completed wedding contract and booking fee in the post this morning. I’m really looking forward to their wedding as they’re a terrific couple and are planning on having mainly informal photographs.
It’s quite surprising how quickly wedding dates are being booked for next year, we have quite a variety of weddings booked at a wide range of lovely venues including castles, stately homes, country house hotels and golf clubs and we’re also travelling a bit with some overnight stays.
Another fairly intensive Welsh class this afternoon, so many new words to forget and so many different mutations to get wrong and I used to think Latin was difficult when I was in school! π
Blog Fixed!
Something must have gone wrong with the last upgrade to my blog software as I haven’t been able to write any posts since the upgrade last month! I finally had some free time this morning to re-download the upgrade files, FTP them to my server and repeat the upgrade process. Everything seems to be working and I can once again write posts. π
It’s been a busy month with lots of work on album designs, making up albums and print orders. This is a really busy time for album manufacturers and often low stocks and long delivery times reflect this.
I’m enjoying the new Welsh class, the pace is fairly brisk and it can be quite a struggle to keep up, there’s quite a lot of spoken work and homework twice a week so it’s quite intensive.
Claire and Lee stayed with us last weekend it was really nice to see them again.
A different Welsh class
I had a visit to the dentist this morning. I attended the Welsh class at Ty Illtud in the village this afternoon, a great bunch of people, the pace is a little intense and very little English is spoken but it was quite enjoyable, the next session is on Monday so I’ll need to finish the homework over the weekend.
No Welsh class!
Unfortunately not enough people have enrolled to make the current class viable so I now need to find an alternative which is a real shame as they’re are a great bunch of people at the current class and Julie has done an excellent job as my tutor over the last four years. I spoke to the University of Glamorgan this morning and there is an alternative course that appears to have sufficient numbers running in the village. I should be able to enrol tomorrow afternoon. It’s always a problem maintaining numbers through the years as the course continues, the course I’m hoping to enrol on meets twice a week so I should be able to complete the current intermediate level in one year which will be a bonus.
I’ve fixed my Mum’s car
I removed the distributor from my Mum’s car and then went to K & L Vehicle Dismantlers on Wentloog Road in Cardiff to pick up a used distributor for ΓΒ£15. Back to my Mum’s to fit it and check the ignition timing is still correct, the car is now running fine again. π
More car woes!
This time it was the turn of my Mum to break down, right on the approach to traffic lights. π I towed her Volkswagen Polo back to her drive and parked it under the car port. I had a quick look to see if I could work out what’s wrong. There’s no ignition spark, there’s ignition supply to the coil and distributor and the coil windings are displaying the correct values of resistance but the distributor is full of lots of little ceramic fragments so it looks like the hall effect sensor has disintegrated.
Catching up with the admin
I finished entering up my accounts today, I’ve used the MYOB accounts package for a number of years with periodic upgrading to new versions. It’s excellent software and saves a considerable amount on accountancy fees being able to do everything including completion of Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet. π
I also completed my current VAT return today and submitted it on-line and transferred the payment to HMC&R. π
I then finished my income tax return and submitted that on-line, I haven’t noticed any adverts on TV warning that the cut off date for submission if you want HMC&R to calculate the tax bill is the 30th September, not that it’s a problem as the TaxCalc software that I use to complete returns does all the tedious calculations.
It’s really nice to have everything fully up to date. π
