Congratulations to David and Hannah

Once again I haven’t posted for some time!

My son David became engaged to Hannah on Valentines day, and they called in last night to show me the engagement ring. πŸ™‚

I’ve recently been playing with my old Olympus E20 camera, hard to believe that many years ago it was the first digital camera that I used for weddings to master the transition from medium format. The cameras that I’ve used since then are so much faster with a major leap in image quality, pixel count and usability but the Olympus at a mere 5 mega pixels is still quite a capable performer. These two snaps were captured as jpeg images (the Olympus is even slower capturing in RAW format) using the in-built pop up flash. The images have just had a quick adjustment for colour balance, contrast and saturation in Photoshop using the iCorrect Edit Lab Pro plug in and then saved for web. Quite strange once again doing image tweaking in Photoshop as professionally I’ve been using Lightroom for some time. I still use the Olympus now and again as a walk about camera when I want something with a little more control than my point and shoot Fuji F11 which seems to live permanently in my pocket and is a very capable snap shot camera.
Here’s a picture of David and Hannah’s new puppy taken last night.

And here’s a picture of Tiegan taken a couple of weeks ago.

My mum had a new sofa and chair delivered yesterday so I called over to see them this morning, they’re in dark brown leather and look very nice, the leather is also very soft and comfortable. Another trip over there in the morning as the tap in the hand basin in her bathroom is stiff but I didn’t have any tools with me this morning.

Stuart and Rachel’s Wedding

Today we had the pleasure of photographing Stuart and Rachel’s wedding at St Barnabas Church in Penygraig. It was a lovely wedding but unfortunately the rain didn’t let up so there are very few outdoor photographs.

Here’s a photograph of the happy couple.

And here’s their terrific cake from Rhianydd Easton at Dragons and Daffodils.

A busy and fun filled week

Claire came to stay with us for a few days this week. πŸ™‚

We visited quite a few places and here are some photographs taken with the Fuji F11 point and shoot camera that I carry with me all the time.

Mothers Day lunch at John and Ida’s in Pontypridd with my mum was excellent.

Claire left after lunch for the drive back to Marham, unfortunately it was a very long journey due to traffic jams and accidents but she did see Jeremy Clarkson in his Ferrari on the way!

A damp Friday

Just returned from RAF Marham where we were once again invited to present the basketball trophy at the annual tournament in memory of our eldest son James. Congratulations to Jonesy’s Boys from the ECM Bay who won the competition for the second year running. We had a terrific time, it was great to see everyone again. We were also fortunate in being invited to visit the section yesterday morning for coffee before heading back. Special thanks to Keith, Claire, Lee, Andy, Gill, Mal, The Chief – Nigel, The Warrant Officer – Steve and everyone else for all the organisation and making our visit once again so special.

We also couldn’t be in Norfolk without visiting all the family and catching up on everything that’s been happening, we had a terrific time. Now need to go on a diet to return to the weight before the trip. πŸ™‚

A damp Monday

Monday is generally the day when I perform the various computer housekeeping tasks on the systems we run here. The routine consists of mainly running various utilities to remove annoying tracking cookies, checking that nothing malicious has managed to get through the various firewalls and archiving old data to DVD or external storage.

I also spent a little bit of time looking at some actions and templates for Photoshop for creating composite album pages, I usually use custom album design software but thought it would be interesting just to try the more manual method of doing it natively within Photoshop.

Here is a little test design I generated. Not sure if I’d use this particular design in a real album but it was fun creating the layout.
