A very wet wedding at Llandaff Cathedral

Today I assisted my friend Jen who was photographing the wedding of Harry and Liz at Llandaff Cathedral. The weather was very wet but fortunately the rain stopped for the group photographs outside the cathedral. It was a lovely wedding with the reception at the Museum in Cathays Park. I’m not going to post any images of the wedding but here is one of the interior of Llandaff Cathedral showing Jacob Epstein’s aluminium figure of Christ in Majesty suspended above the nave on a concrete arch designed by George Pace.

Ian & Katie’s Wedding at Miskin Manor

On Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing Ian and Katie’s wedding at Miskin Manor, Katie’s dress was absolutely lovely. I have photographed many weddings at Miskin Manor and it is a lovely venue that offers a lot of variety for locations with lovely well managed grounds but unfortunately on Sunday the rain didn’t stop so we were unable to take any outdoor photographs. To record the group photographs I set up a small battery powered flash with an umbrella, mounted on a portable light stand with a little additional flash bounced off the ceiling from my on-camera unit balancing the flash and ambient exposures. This enabled me to take the group photographs without the distracting shadows that on-camera flash alone would have produced.

I think summer has arrived!

It’s been a very busy few weeks with quite a few weddings. The Nikon D2X took a tumble off the tripod at a recent wedding but fortunately Fixation managed to repair it and return it to me within a week so I had it back in time for the next wedding.

I’ve just returned from Norfolk where I had the pleasure of photographing Lee and Claire’s wedding at Weston Park. It was a lovely wedding and everything went without a problem. Claire, her family and friends stayed at the Lenwade Country House Hotel which was a great experience, my room was very nice but the hotel is like a maze so always a challenge to find the room again! The wedding ceremony and reception at Weston Park were wonderful and the rain stopped in the afternoon so we could photograph the groups outside.

Here are a couple of photographs of Lee and Claire:

Stuart and Rachel’s Wedding

Today we had the pleasure of photographing Stuart and Rachel’s wedding at St Barnabas Church in Penygraig. It was a lovely wedding but unfortunately the rain didn’t let up so there are very few outdoor photographs.

Here’s a photograph of the happy couple.

And here’s their terrific cake from Rhianydd Easton at Dragons and Daffodils.

Is it really summer?

Met with Rachel and Stuart today to go over the final details of their wedding, we’re really looking forward to taking the photographs in a few weeks time, they’re such a lovely couple. Rachel’s dress sounds really great, can’t wait to see it and I’m sure their wedding cake will be terrific as it’s being made by Rhianydd Easton at Dragons & Daffodils.

The sun was shining this afternoon, it made a very welcome change from all the rain.

More snow today

Despite the overnight weather forecast being rain it snowed overnight with more snow this morning.

A trip to Tesco again this morning, it was much busier than yesterday.

Some of the side roads are still very slippery although the Nissan Patrol coped very well. I still haven’t needed to switch it into four wheel drive during the current spell of snow. 🙂

A very cold Tuesday

Welsh class again this morning, continuing to work on the current assessments, firing questions at each other and making notes of the answers. No rain today which makes a welcome change but the weather has become much colder with quite a frost last night.

A new release of the blog software today, quite a few changes to options and plugins, I’ve completed the upgrade and it seems to be working as planned.

The problems with email on my webhost appear to have been resolved, they’ve been undertaking a server upgrade and for several days recently email access has been dreadful. Apparently no emails sent to me have been lost but they have been taking a significant time to arrive, the backlog has now been cleared so fingers crossed!

I’ve also upgraded to Norton Internet Security 2007 on my notebook computer, a tortuous upgrade that probably needs a complete uninstall and reinstall which may sort out the problems. In typical Norton / Symantec style the uninstallation fails, I’ve raised a support query but as my last one went unanswered I’m not holding my breath. I have two months left with my current subscription so the jury’s still out on whether I’ll continue using the product or revert to my previous security products.
