A cold bright Sunday

I spent quite an uncomfortable night and when the district nurse visited this morning she referred me back to the hospital where they put me on another course of antibiotics to see if it will clear up the infection that I’ve developed. πŸ™ Other than the trip to the hospital a fairly quiet day.

I’m keeping up to date with all the album and print orders that are continuing to come in but I can only work on the computer for short stints, luckily I’m not the sort of person who lets work build up into a backlog.

A bright Sunday

It’s been a little while since I posted so here’s a brief update.

I spent the first three days of last week at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital on ward 7 having some minor surgery, the staff on the ward were really nice and even the food was pretty good once they allowed me to eat some!

I returned home on Wednesday afternoon and have been having daily visits from the district nurse to change my dressings, I’m not very mobile at the moment but I’m still managing to keep up to date with the orders that I’ve been receiving.

I recently upgraded to the new versions of Internet Explorer (version 7) and Firefox (2.0), a few minor issues with the new IE7 and the way that my on-line viewing galleries handle password input. Unfortunately Microsoft have decided to block the password input window by default in IE7. I’ve implemented some code changes that enable password protection to work correctly within the default limitations of IE7.

The new Firefox 2.0 browser is a very nice improvement over the previous version, it now has an in-built spell checker that uses UK English and the ability to save and re-open tabbed browsing without having to use a third party plug in.

I also upgraded my Linux system to the latest version of Ubuntu (Edgy), the upgrade process wasn’t as smooth as it should have been but everything now seems to be set up and updated correctly. The Linux system is mainly used as a file server and back up storage for ‘work in progress’, it performs better, faster and more reliably than using Windows file sharing.

A thundery Wednesday

A visit to the district nurse and the site of my recent surgery has now healed which means that no further treatment is required. Unfortunately there is an additional problem that requires an immediate referral to my GP who has put me on a further course of antibiotics for two weeks but if there isn’t an improvement by Monday I’ll be going back to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital for further treatment. πŸ™

Welsh class this evening. Very impressive thunderstorms tonight with both fork and sheet lightning.

A warm Thursday

My day started with the daily visit from the district nurse, I generally don’t see the same nurse two days running as the local pratice has a team of district nurses but Sarah called again today. I seem to be healing well after the surgery and they should be able to change the type of dressing soon. I had a long overdue haircut from Adrian in Taffs Well now that I’m able to get about again and called in to see my mum on the way back. I went to Celtic Tyres in Bridgend this afternoon to have the wheels balanced on the Nissan Patrol as my local tyre service were having problems getting a good balance yesterday. I met with Mark and Laura again this evening for their pre-wedding session, they’re getting married at the Manor House Hotel in Penarth in a couple of weeks.
