On Sunday I had the pleasure of photographing Ian and Katie’s wedding at Miskin Manor, Katie’s dress was absolutely lovely. I have photographed many weddings at Miskin Manor and it is a lovely venue that offers a lot of variety for locations with lovely well managed grounds but unfortunately on Sunday the rain didn’t stop so we were unable to take any outdoor photographs. To record the group photographs I set up a small battery powered flash with an umbrella, mounted on a portable light stand with a little additional flash bounced off the ceiling from my on-camera unit balancing the flash and ambient exposures. This enabled me to take the group photographs without the distracting shadows that on-camera flash alone would have produced.

A new year
I was privileged to photograph so many terrific weddings last year, it was a lovely time.
The Passat was back from the garage just before Christmas with a new timing belt, and a large number of new valves, the largest garage repair bill so far.
Christmas was over all too quickly, it was great to spend time relaxing with the family. I unfortunately had the delightful norovirus on Christmas Eve. I cooked the family lunches on Christmas Day – traditional turkey with all the trimings and Boxing Day – leg of lamb and turkey.
Since Christmas I’ve been fairly busy with my accounts,VAT and tax returns, just a little more work to complete and then I can file my tax return on-line.
Wedding Cars
My last two weddings have had stunning wedding cars, the photograph below from Lee and Claire’s wedding shows Claire’s mum (Heather) and bridesmaids (Stacey, Pip and Gill) at the side of a beautiful 1934 Sunbeam Twenty Five Six Light in terrific condition from Love and Marriage Carriages of west Norfolk.
At Adam and Sally’s wedding they had a beautiful modern Bentley with an interesting registration.
I think summer has arrived!
It’s been a very busy few weeks with quite a few weddings. The Nikon D2X took a tumble off the tripod at a recent wedding but fortunately Fixation managed to repair it and return it to me within a week so I had it back in time for the next wedding.
I’ve just returned from Norfolk where I had the pleasure of photographing Lee and Claire’s wedding at Weston Park. It was a lovely wedding and everything went without a problem. Claire, her family and friends stayed at the Lenwade Country House Hotel which was a great experience, my room was very nice but the hotel is like a maze so always a challenge to find the room again! The wedding ceremony and reception at Weston Park were wonderful and the rain stopped in the afternoon so we could photograph the groups outside.
Here are a couple of photographs of Lee and Claire:
Happy New Year – Blwyddyn Newydd Dda i chi i gyd
I haven’t posted for a little while, decided to take a couple of weeks break over Christmas.
Upgraded the software on the main server just before Christmas following the rebuild after the mother board failure, it’s now running Suse Linux 10.2 and is performing very well. Following the upgrade to BT Total Broadband we’re getting much better download and upload speeds which certainly helps with uploading galleries to our web site and sending images to the lab for printing. I upgraded my blog software this morning to the latest version which was released a few hours ago, everything seems to be working well and a much smoother upgrade process than previous updates.
We’re quite busy again at the moment, it’s one of those times of the year when we’re handling a number of bookings for new weddings, I really enjoy meeting with new couples and finding out their plans for their special day.
I’ve also nearly competed my tax return so should be ready to submit it on-line next week ahead of the end of month cut off date, luckily my accounts are fully computerised so it’s largely a manual transfer of information from my accounts to the tax return with some manual calculations, fortunately the Tax Calc software carries out a check on the details entered and performs all those tedious tax calculations, it’s excellent value at around £20 for each new release and saves me several hours of work.
A warm Thursday
I had a long relaxing soak in the bath this morning, since leaving hospital a few weeks ago I’ve had to shower daily rather than take a bath (no big deal as showering daily is my normal routine) but there’s something really nice about having a long soak in the bath.
I spent the morning processing orders from recent weddings and then I took my mum out for lunch. I spent the afternoon making up orders while the multitude of batteries were charging in readiness for tomorrow’s wedding.
A quiet evening (apart from the thunder!).
