A wet and dreary Wednesday

An overcast and wet day. The roof and window blinds have been fitted in the conservatory and it makes a big difference to the light and temperature, just need a bright sunny day now to be able to properly judge the improvement.

Welsh class this evening, it’s proving difficult once again to get back into the swing of it following the long summer break but Julie is giving us plenty of practice speaking in various tenses and using all those tricky mutations that are a feature of the language.

Andrew dropped in their selection of images for their Jorgensen wedding album last night and I’ve been working on the initial album design, it’s taking shape very nicely.

A wet Monday

It’s been a very busy few days. Sam and Sophie called around a few days ago to collect the DVD slideshow of their recent wedding and sat with my notebook computer and selected the images for their wedding album. I emailed them an initial design for their album the next day and they emailed back a few minor changes that evening, the final design was then approved and the files sent to the lab for printing. I’ve also been busy making up albums and processing orders from our web galleries.

The work on the fences has been completed, the only outstanding work is a new roof for the car port and the roof and window blinds for the conservatory which are hopefully being fitted at the end of the week. Here are a couple of snaps that show part of the conservatory interior.

This is where I spend most of my working day! Colour laser printer on the left, then the notebook computer which is used for most tasks including email, image processing etc., unfortunately the colours on the notebook aren’t terribly accurate so images are viewed on the Eizo monitor to the right. When not processing images the Eizo is used to view the Linux file server (which is located upstairs). The album display shelves are on the right.

An even hotter Tuesday

The french doors between the dining room and the conservatory were installed today together with the window sills in the conservatory, only the skirting to be fitted once the laminate flooring has been laid. I went to Caerphilly this afternoon, the road through Treforest Industrial Estate was closed due to a light aircraft crash landing on the carriageway, fortunately there weren’t any serious injuries.

A hot Sunday

Julian the electrician completed the installation of the electrics in the conservatory this morning, he’s back in the morning to connect and test the installation. We’ve selected the laminate flooring for the conservatory, dining room and living room. Lunch at John and Ida’s in Pontypridd and some shopping at B&Q. Finished filling the skip.

A mainly dry Thursday

It was generally a nice day today but when it rained it was quite heavy.

I went to Leekes this afternoon and bought some socket boxes for the conservatory a little fun with the bolster, lump hammer, angle grinder and hammer drill and the additional outlets have been added.

Paul called in after work this evening to create some CD jewel case inserts.

A sweltering Monday

Work started today on errecting the conservatory. David called in, he’s now driving the BMW 318 but he’d overfilled the radiator so there was hot coolant pouring out from the radiator. Called over to my Mum’s and cut her front lawn. The BMW 525i has been returned from the bodyshop, it’s currently on my Mum’s drive as with all the building work at home we need to keep our drive clear.
